New and not so new dolls...

I supposed I should introduce more of the 'gang'! Meet David, Sarah(Yep she looks just like Cassie...they're twins actually!)and Libby (She's Sarah and Cassie's niece). David is actually Edward from the Twilight series. But he'll be getting a blonde reroot and custom repaint & will become David Bowie as Jareth from the Labyrinth. Of course Jareth needs his Sarah...Enter...well Sarah. Sarah, I thought initally was going to be perfect for David/Jareth...but after watching the movie again I discovered that she is too tall...Sarah in the movie was 16 and only came up to Jareths' shoulder...so I have been looking around at various other 'teen' dolls. The 2 main contenders I found were the Best Friends Club, Ink. Addison. And the Wizards of Waverly Place Alex. Well today while getting the boys last minute school supplies I found an Alex on clearance for $10 AND since someone missed a sign from last weeks 50% off all clearance toys...I got her for $5! Can't beat that!!! I was so stoked to debox her after dinner, only to discover that she is TOO SHORT!!! She barely comes up to David's chest...While Sarah would be about 5'10" to Jareth's 6", poor little Libby is only about 5". (not to mention she just looks WAY to young!!!) Soooo back to the drawing board. One thought I had, was to...gasp, horrors...chop out a section of Sarah's thighs and glue her legs on so she stands a bit shorter...but you know, I KNOW she's only plastic and she'd be wearing a full dress not meant to be removed...BUT that just seems wrong! LOL My other thought was a custom base for the pair that will raise Jareth up enough so he's taller than Sarah without it looking 'weird'.

  1. I don't think it would be that bad of a thing to chop off her legs, but a custom base might be a little easier in the long run. $5.00 is such a steal, even if she doesn't work for the project you planned on!

  2. Well that does make me feel a little better about chopping her legs off! LOL Yeah at $5 I certainly couldn't pass her up...now the interesting thing is going to be trying to find clothes and more specifically SHOES to fit her! (clothes I can alter, shoes are a bit tougher! LOL)

  4. heeheehee...that may be what I end up doing, as that way I can have them on the smooth ballroom floor! (need to try making a mold of David's face too, as I want to try to recreate the mask he carried in the beginning of the scene.)
