I was reading someone's New Years post earlier this week and they mentioned challenging themselves to read 100 books in the year. I thought...hmmm how cool! Now I LOVE to read...I read in the evenings while hubby is shaving and getting ready for bed. I read in the morning while he's getting ready for work. (um probably TMI but I'm a bathroom reader too.) And I love me a good book while soaking in the tub!!! So I decided that I too am going to challenge myself to read 100 books in 2010! (yes that's about 3 days to a book!) Now if I sit down with a good book that is no problem. Heck I read each of the Harry Potter books in one day when they came out. The other part to this challenge, atleast for me, is 80 of them MUST be books I've never read before. I say that because there are several series that I have read, that are due out with new books this year. And I always like to reread the previous books before starting the new one...to catch myself back up. This challenge will also 'force' me into getting my butt to the library and getting a card. Been here 7 years and have YET to make it to any of the local libraries! =(
So I am looking forward to reading a ton of books this year and I'll try to post a little blurb about each book as I finish it...so if your are interested maybe you'll find a new book to read too!
I love to read too- but I have to be careful about it because I will let everything else go and just stay immersed in books. Laundry piles up, craft projects collect dust, phones go to voicemail- who cares...I am reading my book! I look forward to hearing about what you are reading though- maybe my resolution should be to learn to read AND still finish other things too :)
ReplyDeleteOh man Kim I am the same way!!! When I get my nose into a good book I tend to lose focus on um yeah everything! LOL hmm maybe I should update my resolution too! =D
ReplyDeleteI am the same as you with reading and have to be careful. Once I get into a book I can lose myself.
ReplyDeleteYears back the BBC did a list of the top 100 classics everyone must read. I had read 78 of them already but challenged myself to read the other 22 that year. I managed 12 but have the other books here to read some day.
I find that I read one book by an author...currently James A Michener and (assuming I love the author) then I have to go out and read all their other books too.
Hmmm top 100 Classics... I wonder if there would be some way to find that list. =D
ReplyDeleteI am like that too with authors. I generally read fiction...reading for me is an escape. I love romance novels, preferably historical ones. My current favorite genre is paranormal romance.
here you go...it is split over 2 pages :-)

Romance novels is one thing I can't read. I ignored Gone With The Wind for the longest time thinking it'd be all romance but it wasn't and I loved it.
If you love historical books and don't mind thick books you should try Michener.
Jayne, thanks for sharing the list with me! I ahve read many of them too! i am saving the list and I think I will try to add atleast 10 of them into my prefered reading. I don't mind thick books at all as long as I can get into the story. I will definitely check out Michener.
